Something special in Bonn? Thoughts about Bochum? Some words:

Christian, Bonn:

Dawn: A man told me, that Meike’s sleeping room is on the other side.

Noon: A lazy family sunday on the roof of the “Bundeskunsthalle”.

Dusk: Deadly accident with a taxi of  an eighteen year old boy after the megaevent “Rhein in Flammen” in the Rheinauen.

Markus, Bochum:

PURCHASABLE LOVE     Prostitution and Sex Shops… …I guess in the same amount like in other cities.

HIDDEN LOVE     There are surprisingly many shops which offers kitsch in this area. Anybody deny to like kitsch. No one would ever bought something like this. Strange. But how this shops survive? 🙂

TRUE LOVE     True love led her to Bochum. She needed in deed some time to cope with Bochum…   …but now she developed her own love for this city. 🙂

Capital of the week: ENTRANCE / EXIT

PABUCA Capital of the week is…

Vienna

by Eleni

https://thesunflowerunderthewillowtree.wordpress.com/2015/02/03/pabuca-entranceexit/

Is this an exit or entrance? Or the twilight zone, the so called extrance? Eleni plays funny games with the theme in Vienna, but guides us through interesting aspects of exits and entrances too.

Important notice: PABUCA is no contest. PABUCA is a platform for sharing impressions of towns and an incentive to look for it. So “The capital of the week” is no winner of the theme or necessarily the “best shot”. We wouldn’t presume to declare something like that. But it’s an example, which in our subjective opinion unterlines the idea of PABUCA: To illustrate the soul of the city.

Something special in Bonn? Thoughts about Bochum? Some words:

Christian, Bonn:

The House of History (Haus der Geschichte) keeps the German history since 1945 alive with many relicts for all generations. Bonn plays a big role here as the Ex-capital of Germany. One of the high frequented museum attractions in Bonn.

Markus, Bochum:

1907 a.d. : Produced for the world fair 1867 in Paris by the steel factory ‚Bochumer Verein’ with a weight of 15.000 kg and a diameter of 3,13m. But this is not the story. – What I wanna say is: Heinz Schwalguleck opened his cheese dairy in 1907.

2000 a.d. : The city hall of Bochum was build in 1912. Eightyeight years later Markus married his Victoria in exact that building.

2011 a.d. : Bochums first tram got into service in 1894 and connected the cities of Bochum and Herne. In March 2011 Kevin Schwalguleck get caught riding the U35 without ticket for the fifth time and was charged with a fee of € 40. And so everything comes full circle about this little excursus in Bochums history. Thank you.

Is a crabs roll in a idyllic hut neat the sea with a seagull typical for a nothern city like flensburg or a stereotype? It’s relaxing and true! Maike gives food a style of living in Flensburg.

Sunday special: PABUCA TO GO – DIE BILDER

PABUCA Capital of the week is…

Berlin

by Werner

Quelle:http://alleaugenblicke.de/pabuca-war/

Werner suceeds to capture some silent urban moments in Berlin for a really big theme. Especially in the high burdened history of Berlin no easy way. But Werner simply lets the pictures speak to us. It’s just for our own dialoque with them. No messages of remembrance, no moral requests.

Important notice: PABUCA is no contest. PABUCA is a platform for sharing impressions of towns and an incentive to look for it. So “The capital of the week” is no winner of the theme or necessarily the “best shot”. We wouldn’t presume to declare something like that.

Capital of the week: FAULTS

PABUCA Capital of the week is…

BUCHAREST

by Ileana

Quelle: http://ileanapartenie.wordpress.com/2014/08/20/pabuca-fault/

Ileana shows, that in Bucharest stripes aren’t stripes, balconies could be dangerous and even analog steps could send “fatal errors”.  A great walk through some bizarre moments with a very special view for the details of the city.

Something special in Bonn? Thoughts about Bochum? Some words:

Christian, Bonn:

Oversized: The administration house of Bonn isn’t just ugly and anonymous, but also oversized, when Bonn still thought, that it would become the middle of Europe.

Disconnected: After many officials went to Berlin, Medinghoven and its big apartment blocks were allocated to unemployed persons and immigrants, partly financed by Bonn. The result of this mismatch is an upcoming ghetto.

Mismanaged: Bonn has no money. For example the mismanagement with the scandalous WCCB (Insolvency of the impostar) ends in closed baths because of to less human ressources for lifesavers. The youth without opportunities for sports, fun and leisure.

Markus, Bochum:

– During the terrible thunderstorm on the whitsun-holiday, Bochum get hit really hard. With some interesting results…

–  WRONG INSTRUCTION:   “You can’t always get what you want!”, like Mick Jaggers grandpa would say.

–  WRONG SHOES

Sunday special: Hardtberger Kulturnacht 2014

Event tip for an exhibition in Germany, so just in german (6 pictures):

(more…)

Sunday special: THE WINNER IS…

Conny mit ihrer Stadt Hamburg!

Die Stimmen unseres Wettbewerbs “My most familiar place” sind ausgewertet.

Scholz

Capital of the week: TECHNIQUE

PABUCA Capital of the week is…

HERFORD

by Lars Oliver

Quelle: www.ansichtsplattform.wordpress.com

Technique is art? Technique is education? Or leisure? Yes, it is, how Lars Oliver shows in his famous series about Herford. But not only, that he gives this objects without technical function anymore an unique platform, but he also integrates them into the cityscape of Herford.

Important notice: PABUCA is no contest. PABUCA is a platform for sharing impressions of towns and an incentive to look for it. Something special in Bonn? Thoughts about Bochum? Some words:

Christian, Bonn:

Technique in Bonn means Telecommunication, the whole process from sending to receiving. The Magenta T and dots (Transmitter) are is visible  nearly everywhere in Bonn (here: brigde over b9 between the Head office buildings). The units of German Telekom are spread all over the city. But a deeper view offers alldaily technique, either puplic like outdatetd loudspeakers for sports (Sender) or private (Satellite Receiver characerize  the big bungalow estate at ‘Brüser Berg’)

Markus, Bochum:

–  READ THE INSTRUCTION:   A nice homage towards the vintage technique of traffic lights was reinstalled at a crossroad in the city center. The rotating pointer shows the phases of STOP or GO. Simple but effective.

–  SCRATCHING THE SURFACE:   Human Instinct vs. High-Tech predominance. If it works? Ask the coin!

–  PULLING THE TRIGGER:   Bochums technique at it’s best: Grab the bottle. Spread the little finger as a sign of respect and your good manners. Push the metal clip of the shutter in horizontal direction. Enjoy the sound, the smell and the taste of Bochums brewed FIEGE PILS. Feel happy and be one with the universe.

Capital of the week: VASTNESS

PABUCA Capital of the week is…

Bremen

by Kiki

Quelle: http://spiegelbremse.wordpress.com/2014/07/08/pabuca-vastness/

Vastness and city? Is this possible? Yes! One solution is a trip just some miles outward in urban recreation areas. The landscape close to the city, which belongs to its soul too. Kiki leads us through “Blockland” of Bremen and shows us, that cultivation hasn’t to be contrary to vastness and open land. (Additional a very funny, but critical poem. Read it!)
